The Block Block

Here are the vinyl blocks I printed yesterday, inked up and ready to go. They’re about 7 x 9 inches each. They’ve been printed singly but I like the look of them grouped together in a block and might print a couple of sheets like this. But that’ll have to wait until after I’ve finished mounting and framing all the work for my upcoming exhibition at Oriel Ceri Richards from August the 21st.

I drew, cut and printed these at Swansea Print Workshop on an antique Victorian Columbian printing press.

 

Seaweed, beer and maps

I’m on a bit of a roll with Welsh foodie news this week. My piece on the ingenious folk at Selwyn’s, who are reinventing Welsh laverbread as an Asian-inspired seaweed snack, appeared in the South Wales Evening Post today and tomorrow I’m off to learn more about the Gower Brewery, which is set to quadruple its capacity and create 20 jobs as a result of a £1m investment package. These are good times for the Welsh food and drink industry.

Besides that, I’m editing the August edition of Healthcare Risk Management Review and having great fun with visual art features, including a piece on West Wales painter Peter Morgan, who has a show soon at Workshop Wales Gallery in Fishguard, and a business feature on the huge contribution Swansea’s elysiumgallery has had on the local economy.
