Who am I?
I am Rosie Scribblah aka Rose Davies and I’m an Artist, Educator and Blogger.
I work directly from life, carrying a sketchbook at all times looking for any opportunity to have a scribble. And I’m a printmaker and occasionally a painter.
Focus on the Wild Megalith (and a linocut course)
A few years back I walked across the South Wales Neolithic landscape with Welsh pre-historian Dewi Bowen as he researched his latest book, “Hunting The Wild Megalith“, following the trail of Y Twrch Trwyth (The Boar Hunt) from the book of Welsh legend, The Mabinogion. The path of the Boar Hunt coincides with most of the major prehistoric stone monuments in this ancient and mythological land.

I’m running a weekend linocut course at the end of February in Swansea Print Workshop which includes a short film by Melvyn Williams of my creative exploits as Dewi and I hunted the Wild Megalith. Click on this link to find out more about the weekend course …
And What Else?
I work on the streets, in public indoors and outdoors, bringing the practice of art directly to people who may never have been into a gallery or seen art being created.

Street Art with The Plebian Printmakers
Sometimes my sketchbook drawings become the basis for printmaking work, monotypes, screenprints, drypoints …..

A monotype – Fair Play For Museum Staff
My work with homeless people and others excluded from and by society is reflected in the subjects I choose and sometimes leads to commissions, like this one for SkyArts television channel. It’s a very large woodcut and also a spoken word piece, meant to be read out loud.

And more recently I was commissioned by a cartel of Welsh Universities to develop an arts project in a very deprived area of my home city … “Walk Waun Wen, Talk Waun Wen” … see more about it here.

I have exhibited in various traditional galleries, online galleries, in print, nationally and internationally, and on television. I also work internationally and have carried out artists residencies in the USA and Pakistan as well as Wales.

With my exhibition at The Satrang Gallery in Pakistan
I work from my studio in Swansea, Wales, UK where I live with my partner and our cats, Sparta Puss and William ChatNoir.
I have a Masters in Adult Education from University of Wales, Swansea; a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from West Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education; and a Diploma in Art from Swansea Art College.
MY BLOG
I POST an artwork a day, mostly drawings but sometimes work in progress and printmaking. I have thousands of drawings in sketchbooks; it’s hard to exhibit sketches in galleries and yet lots of people like to see drawings, so a blog seems like a good idea. It also motivates me to keep trying to draw every day – it’s easy to let life get in the way of drawing. For a direct link to my blog pages please click here.
