I'm an artist / printmaker / scribbler. I love drawing and all the geeky stuff associated with printmaking, working in a figurative style. I live in Wales with husband and demented cats. And my real name is Rose Davies :D

Totally agree with you two… She had a stunning style.
Quite wonderful. I’m writing about her now.
Ahh, how very awesome indeed…
I went to see this with OA last Saturday.
Stunning skills.
And so moving …
I’m hoping to come up early November. Saw her museum recently in Berlin, marvellous.
Such is my ignorance of art I had not heard of her. If you want to meet for a drink when you come to Birmingham, I’d be glad to do so too.
She’s one of my artist heroes. Would be lovely to meet up ☺
Great
I think you have my email address. I intend to go again. I’m not surprised she’s a hero for you. It’s my ignorance that she was not mine already. I was so moved, almost to tears.
I don’t think she was given much recognition in this country after the war because she’s German. We’re finally catching up with her now.
Is it facile to say that core is not just her socialist zeal but her feminism. Her world view is just so unlike “mainstream” art, with its focus on the centrality of women without romanticism or male gaze.
I first heard of her back in the early 80s through feminist art networks but it’s taken a long time for her to become mainstream.
My punctuation and grammar went wrong in last comment. I meant, as I hope was still clear, HER focus on centrality of women without romanticism or male gaze was unlike mainstream art. Her art is challenging and raw, but strangely refreshing, a window into humanity that I found I responded to.
Yes, she followed her own path, amazing artist
