An Older Man (male nude)

I like to draw older models because it’s interesting to see how anatomy changes with age. When I’m drawing, I often make mistakes and do a few sketches until I get it reasonably right. Here’s the first attempt (above) with notes about what’s wrong with it. I had another go and was happy with the second drawing, done in Faber Castell Pitt drawing pens, various sizes, onto Somerset 250gsm paper. I added colour with Winsor & Newton half pan artist water colours.

I'm an artist / printmaker / scribbler. I love drawing and all the geeky stuff associated with printmaking, working in a figurative style. I live in Wales with husband and demented cats. And my real name is Rose Davies :D

  1. Exactly. How boring the world would be if all it contained was the bodies of 22 year old female beauties and some of them are beauties too. Clearly your soul is in art; there’s nothing uninteresting in life is there ? I think it’s boring for an artist that people wear clothes at all except for obvious situations where they would be desirable. Is the world really no more than Matalan’s Fashion designer’s idea of how he / she can conceal people with clothes ? Baffled but have no intention of frightening the horses !
