Seagulls at sunset hanging out of the spiky bits on top of the towers on top of the mosque that used to be a church. There was a seagull on each one.

Very much crown-like. Which leads to the question: What kind of king or chieftain with power over coasts and islands would employ that as a crown? And how would he look?
