Had a rotten cold today so I worked from home and caught up with loads of admin stuff – so boring but needed to be done. I didn’t feel like drawing so I had a play around with Adobe Photoshop. I don’t know why, but I don’t really think of it as art. The innate snobbery of a ‘fine’ artist maybe? Yet it still involves using tools, techniques and making artistic judgements so I shouldn’t think that way. I had a few digital photos of Husb to faff around with and I tried out some of the functions I’m less familiar with. I like this one and although I wasn’t aiming to do anything with the images, I think I’ll try this out as a cyanotype print next time I’m at Swansea Print Workshop.
I Photoshop all my stuff, but only with the basics. I’m still an paper n pencil type of guy.
I use it a lot as a means to an end, but rarely to create a piece in it’s own right.
Get lots of rest so you can feel better & get back to printmaking!
🙂
Thanks – feeling lots better now. Just a cold 🙂
I am so with you on the digital opinion. I know I’m an artistic retard, but I just can’t get into making computer art. A mouse just doesn’t do it for me like a pen or a brush. Ah well, maybe in my next life…
My husb does brilliant digital work, but I can’t quite accept it as ‘real’ art. My problem though 🙂
I know what you mean about digital work. I think it’s that it’s different physically. A different way of making the spirit/mind/body dance together. Foreign. Unfamiliar. Dubious!
Hope your cold is better soon!
Ann
Thanks – loads better now 🙂
