Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop and here’s a drawing in progress. The pose was about 45 minutes. I used my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 using the free Markers app, saving regularly to keep a record of the development of the drawing.
I like to go to life drawing regularly as the study of human anatomy underpins my artistic practice. The portrayal of the nude is a European artistic tradition going back tens of thousands of years, to Paleolithic times.
I’m a glutton for punishment and I choose difficult foreshortening to get some practice. This one was a pain!

I really enjoyed looking at the process Rosie.. but that foot ! Blimey if she does have a foot that big she’s in trouble … haha.. Perspective can be misleading !
I know! I measured and measured but I guess this is where an artist should exercise artistic license lol 😀
you and Mu pan make me feel guilty for not attending life modelling classes 😦
It’s such good practice 🙂
She living it up. 😉 Have a really beautiful weekend!
Thank you 🙂
Love it Rosie! Funnily enough I was just talking about life classes at art school in the late 70s this afternoon! I was telling my friend and artist Yvonne Taylor about how I used to walk round the class until I found the most challenging viewpoint! There’s something truly magical about foreshortening in a life drawing isn’t there!!!
It is indeed. I was at art school then, we had a full day a week of life drawing. I am told they hardly do it now in some universities
That foot has real (stomping) power Rosie! And now I see the delicate drapery – floral, pink and puffy. Great contrasts. Philippa
Thanks Philippa. She’s a stomping outdoors type of woman too 🙂
