I’m chuffed with the amount of work I have done so far during my residency at Swansea’s Urban HQ. In 10 days I’ve cut 12 lino blocks, done a day of research, had really good conversations with about 30 visitors, and sold a little linocut print. This block is number 12 and is double the size of all the others, it is 20 x 15cms. I was going to make it just a straight portrait, based on an original life drawing, but once the carving on the face was finished I decided to add some background, some shadowy figures and silhouetted winter trees. Why not, eh?
I am artist in residence at Swansea’s Urban HQ until late April. If you’re visiting the city centre, please pop in and have a look and pick up a free postcard of my work. It would be lovely to see you.
