Hands 1

hand-1c

I focused on the model’s hands at the life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop a few evenings ago. I blocked in the white first, then sanguine and finally black with conté crayons. It didn’t go too well so I tried again…….. but that’s for tomorrow …….

I'm an artist / printmaker / scribbler. I love drawing and all the geeky stuff associated with printmaking, working in a figurative style. I live in Wales with husband and demented cats. And my real name is Rose Davies :D

      1. I originally took up conte crayon to do studies like these in black, sanguine and white but could never see my way into the technique, so I ended up buying more colours and developing something quite different. Your short post here has been illuminating and maybe I’ll try again this week.

      2. Your landscape work with the conte crayons is so innovative, the use of water and scratching and layering really works. My technique with the hands here relies on using a mid tone paper, it’s so easy then to block in some highlights and work from there.
