Last week at life drawing group I really enjoyed drawing this 30-minute pose. The model looks quite pensive but I think that’s just how he looks when he’s holding a pose for half an hour – it’s not easy being a life model. I spent a lot of the time working on his face, analysing the proportions and angles using a 2B graphite block. It’s not a bad likeness but could be better. His pendant is part of an ancient mammoth tusk.
I have three linocut prints in the Miniprint Cymru Wales exhibition in Mostyn in Llandudno, North Wales, open until May 2nd. It includes one of my linocuts of our cat Bill, aka William Chatnoir.
