I’ve been doing one of Ed Sumner’s Zoom tutorials this evening, copying van Gogh’s painting of his bedroom. It’s a two hour session and it’s mostly done but it needs a bit more faffing, maybe another couple of hours. But not tonight, it’s late so I’m off to bed. Nos da, good night π

I'm an artist / printmaker / scribbler. I love drawing and all the geeky stuff associated with printmaking, working in a figurative style. I live in Wales with husband and demented cats. And my real name is Rose Davies :D View more posts
I would think it somewhat strange to be trying to paint perspective when the perspective itself is already out of kilter. π₯΄
Oh yes, I kept wanting to “correct” it π
I recently saw a re-construction of this painting with the original, non-changed pigments. It was really wild as the door was a strong violet and the walls a paler purple. You can check it out on the Van Gogh Museum site

That’s interesting, thanks Leonie. I’m trying to tone it down, but of course, the original wouldn’t have had the murkiness of the deteriorated paint on it π
