Here’s another cat sketch from April 2015. It’s Sparta Puss, using a Faber Castell Pitt drawing pen into a small A6 bound sketchbook, taking it across the two pages. It’s one of my favourite sketches of her, it’s lively and dynamic.

Taking the sketch across both pages of an A6 book is a lovely way to give Sparta Puss more room without losing the intimacy of a small sketchbook. It is also interesting to hear that this remains one of your favourites more than a decade later—a useful reminder that a pet portrait’s lasting appeal is about the individual animal it brings back to mind.
