Angels Are…Renaissance: 3

Continuing with my series of studies of Renaissance angel sculptures, the photo I’m working from here has some difficult foreshortening. It took me a while to get to grips with it. The angle shows a lot of detailing on the wings though and an idea of how they are fixed to the back of the body. I used a charcoal pencil, my home-made walnut ink, Liquitex white ink and Escoda brushes onto recycled print paper coated with acrylic screenprint ink.

I’m doing an artist residency in Urban HQ, 37 Orchard St, Swansea SA1 5AJ throughout November, developing ideas on the theme of Angels. Please drop by if you’re in the city, there’s a lovely café there too.

I'm an artist / printmaker / scribbler. I love drawing and all the geeky stuff associated with printmaking, working in a figurative style. I live in Wales with husband and demented cats. And my real name is Rose Davies :D
