#Caturday Saturday

Aaaaaand it’s that time of the week again, when the world puts their cats on show. I started sketching Sparta Puss earlier, when she was asleep, then she woke up and walked away. She’s a tortoiseshell, or maybe a calico, but mostly black with flashes of ginger and white socks. Adorable.

Cattitude!

Greetings Bald Monkeys! Sparta Puss here. I haven’t been able to get my paws on the Hairless Apes pooter box for ages so my fans haven’t heard from me for a while. The stupid she-simian was staring at me earlier ….. so I stared right back at her! She had that stick with a dirtyContinue reading “Cattitude!”

And The Cat “Helped”

And the cat “helped”. I went back to the two head drawings I did over the past couple of days and did a bit more work into them with black gouache. I showed a selection of printmaking techniques suitable for younger children including two kinds of monotype – direct line and reductive, blind embossing and colour printing with collagraphContinue reading “Creative Learning”

Singing In The Shower

I like singing in the shower. I’m not trying to impress anyone, just singing away for the fun of it, so there’s no pressure. Sometimes I do that with drawing; not often enough to be honest. When I was a kid I doodled all the time but now I always seem to be trying toContinue reading “Singing In The Shower”

Street Scribbles

This is my equivalent of a singer practicing their scales. It’s what underpins the ‘finished’ pieces that I hang in a gallery. Just mundane, quick, scribbly sketches in real time. It’s only a few minutes work but it keeps me fresh by focussing me on the essence of each figure. It’s not great artContinue reading “Street Scribbles”
