Burlesque.. I’m re-blogging the fabulous Doodlemum blog – her Arnie and my Sparta are a murderous fluffy duo!

Cat On A Rucksack On A Blanket On A Footstool
This drawing had to be done! Little one-eyed Ming the Merciless, our fluffy Tortoiseshell [Calico] cat, doing her ‘Princess and the Pea’ stuff again earlier today, dossing on top of a large packed rucksack that had been left on top of a large, well-stuffed leather pouffee that was covered with a thick fleecy blanket. AnyContinue reading “Cat On A Rucksack On A Blanket On A Footstool”
Scribbling Kitties
Sometimes it’s nice just to scribble. I normally have a very structured approach to drawing; very analytical and finished. Now and again it’s good to loosen up and have a scribble. One day I was sitting an exhibition at elysium gallery and I started scribbling randomly in a tiny sketchbook. The scribbles built upContinue reading “Scribbling Kitties”
The Celtic/Welsh May Cat, Y Gath Mis Mai
Sparta, our two-year old tortoiseshell [calico] cat is simultaneously a tiny, sweet, adorable, cuddly little kitty and a rampaging murderous scourge of anything smaller than her that moves. Worse than that, she brings her prey into the house. People tell us she’s bringing us ‘presents’ but you know, I’d rather go without her little gifts.Continue reading “The Celtic/Welsh May Cat, Y Gath Mis Mai”
Cwtching computer cat
It’s funny how cats choose their people. All the cats that have lived with us have preferred one more than the other. Little Ming has been Melvyn’s cat from the start; she follows him around and she’s especially clingy when he’s using his computer. She rolls about on his PC keyboard and pushes in betweenContinue reading “Cwtching computer cat”
A Little Black Panther and Pavlov’s Humans
Our lovely black tomcat, Bola, died a couple of years ago at the age of 19. He was an enormous sleek neutered tom and he looked like a scaled down black panther but he had the sweetest personality and loved food. He was a bit of a gourmet and I know you’re not supposed toContinue reading “A Little Black Panther and Pavlov’s Humans”
My Cat’s New B.F.F. – the Kettle.
We have a big boiler in the kitchen and for the past seventeen years it was ruled by Bobbit, our recently deceased tortoiseshell [calico] queen. It’s been five weeks now since she died and in the past week Ming the Merciless, our next oldest cat, has grabbed the space and made it her own. ForContinue reading “My Cat’s New B.F.F. – the Kettle.”

Ink Sketching: Letting Sleeping Cats Lie.
Cats are not easy to draw but at least they spend long hours completely immobile – fast asleep. I take advantage and get some sketching done. It’s doubly hard with Sparta because she also has very distinctive markings so drawings have to be accurate or they don’t look like her. This is a page inContinue reading “Ink Sketching: Letting Sleeping Cats Lie.”
Two Drawings of the Third Kitten of the Apocalypse
Our dear old tomcat, Bola, died in August two years ago when he was nearly twenty years old. He was a great big black panther of a moggy with the sweetest nature. We had our two younger ones, Bobbit and Ming the Merciless and decided that we wouldn’t have any more kitties. No-one could takeContinue reading “Two Drawings of the Third Kitten of the Apocalypse”
