These are the warm-up drawings for week 6 of my return to life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop after a gap of several years (see here). My goal is to improve my portrait drawing over the next year. These sketches range between 1 and 15 minutes, using a graphite block onto a good but cheap cartridge paper.

One For Carving
My final 2 sketches at the life drawing session, numbers 7 and 8, both 30-minute drawings of the same pose. The last one if the best likeness and I drew these two in a 10 x 15 cm rectangle, so I can transfer straight to a lino block. And then get carving.

Practice Makes Perfect (But It Takes A While)
Reaching the end of last Thursday’s life drawing sesh at Swansea Print Workshop and I’m only just starting to get to grips with the new model. I keep drawing his eyes too close together, but the likeness improve with each sketch, as it should.
