Goodbye Little Friend

8 Jan

Our scruffy little cat, Ming the Merciless, had her final visit to the vet today. She’s been poorly for a while now and Husb had to make the decision to let her go.

We rescued Ming when she was just a tiny, starving scrap about 10 months old. She was extremely ill from neglect and after 4 nights at the vet’s hospital, touch and go, we brought her home and she promptly went to sleep stretched along Husb’s legs. We had three older cats and she was very scared and reacting aggressively with them but she obviously felt secure when she was with Husb. We had her for 17 years and up until quite recently she still cwtched up to him on the settee. They were pretty much inseparable and she brought so much fun into our house, it was worth all the effort to save her. Her illness left her with weak lungs and one eye and we were lucky to have her for so long.

So sorry for your loss. How wonderful to have had such a special love.
Your tribute of beautiful artwork is a lasting joy.
I’m working on a painting of a few of my past cats. Difficult, but also heart healing.
    My best to “husb”.

I don’t want to hear one nasty word out of SpartaPuss. At least Ming had a good long life with you. That’s how I consoled myself when I had to let my “somewhere around 20-year-old” cat go three years ago. Hope you eventually acquire another cat to give Sparta a run for her money💗

Weirdly, a cat turned up on our back door the following morning and accepted some food from Husb so we’ll see how it goes …

It usually seems to work out better when the cat finds you rather than vice versa.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your dear cat. How wonderful that you and your husband were able to rescue her and give her all those years of rich, full life.

Always sad if a feline member of the family leaves. What does Sparta Puss say? All the best from the Baltic Sea.

So sorry – that last visit to the vets is always the toughest. Cats are all so different but they leave a big hole in our lives. Seventeen years is a really good age. Love the drawings, by the way.

Thanks Emma. She was a good little model. We weren’t expecting her to live so long
