Scribbling away at the boxing club the other week, I was sketching movements and positions I hadn’t seen before, but these guys are so fast, I struggled to get anything resembling a human down on the page. But it’s really good practice, each tiny figure adds to my knowledge of how humans move, how we’reContinue reading “Live At The Boxing Club: 4”

Live At The Boxing Club: 3
The other week, I went and had a scribble at the Gwent Boxing Club in Townhill in Swansea. The lads are really, really fast so there was no time to do any detailed drawing, I could only do speed sketching. It was good practice to capture movement as quickly as I could. I could see movements and body shapesContinue reading “Live At The Boxing Club: 3”
Live At The Boxing Club: 2
Just a quick blog post this evening, just got back from a gig at the Patti Pavilion, Warmduscher was headlining. Great vibe, jumped about a bit too much and I’m aching. A nice cup of tea and a couple of paracetamol is what I need now 😀 The speed sketch was done recently at GwentContinue reading “Live At The Boxing Club: 2”
Skipping.
I drew some of the guys at the boxing club as they skipped the other evening. They are SO fast. The skipping ropes were a blur!
From The Ceiling And The Floor.
My first sketch from the boxing club last week, a warm up to get some proportions using continuous line, looking at the punch bags connecting to the ceiling and the floor, before the boxers arrived.
Through A Looking Glass…
I visited a boxing club to draw the other evening. Before the boxers arrived I turned to a large mirror and drew what I could see. I found it easier drawing the image in the mirror than drawing the real world. I used the continuous line technique as the scene is very complicated.

Artists from all over Wales are exhibiting. Please come and check it out. Neath has a really good indoor market too.
Live At The Boxing Club: 1
This evening I went and had a scribble at the Gwent Boxing Club in Townhill in Swansea. The lads are lovely and gave me a warm welcome…and a bit of joshing 😀 They’re really, really fast so there was no time to do any detailed drawing, it was speed sketches all the way.
Short Pants, Long Pants.
Husb and I went to a gig at Elysium on Samhain a few days ago, a mixture of performers, folk and metal, with a pagan theme. When I go to gigs, I often draw legs in the audience and I did at this one. Then it occurred to me that everyone was wearing long trousers.Continue reading “Short Pants, Long Pants.”
