These are the first two scribbles I did in my sketchbook on Samhain / Halloween. I should have posted them first, I guess, not last. It takes a while to warm up so I usually do a couple of very quick ones at the start of a session.

Halloween sketching
I managed to get a fair few scribbles last weekend on Samhain / Halloween at the Elysium gig, in between headbanging and interesting conversations. The line-up featured Root Zero, Grindhorse 83, Pyrogaric and headliners Adfeilion. I bought a vinyl album by Adfeilion and have been listening to it, it’s fab.
Scribbling On Samhain.
Husb and I went to a fab gig on Halloween / Samhain at Elysium. The line up was great, Root Zero, Grindhorse 83, Pyrogaric and Adfeilion headlining. There were a lot of women, both performing and in the audience. I had a scribble of course. Makes a change sketching women’s legs at a heavy gig,Continue reading “Scribbling On Samhain.”
More Drawing In Darkness.
Not the easiest thing to do, draw in the dark, but t’s very good discipline, makes you focus on what’s there in front of you, which isn’t much. This was at an illustrated talk by Andrew Renton at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery yesterday, part of the excellent Tigers and Dragons exhibition. It was dark as the projectorContinue reading “More Drawing In Darkness.”
Drawing In Darkness
I went to an illustrated talk by Andrew Renton at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery yesterday, part of the excellent Tigers and Dragons exhibition. It was dark as the projector was on, but I had a scribble anyway. It’s good practice to draw in varying degrees of light and dark, I think. This guy wasContinue reading “Drawing In Darkness”
Heavy Metal Legs: Elysium
Two blokes in short trousers at the night of heavy metal gig at Elysium last Saturday. Couldn’t resist scribbling them. The line up was fab…SUMP, Wall, Pyriah and Suns of Thunder. Very heavy, loved it.
Too Absorbed; In The Bookshop Café
Before Covid, remember that far back? It seems like ages to me. Anyway, before Covid I used to go regularly to the little café upstairs in Waterstones bookshop in Swansea. I’d have a little pot of tea and scribble for a while. I could look down into the street and get some great perspectives. TheContinue reading “Too Absorbed; In The Bookshop Café”
Pencils First
After the mess I made of my last pair of legs (a drawing, not actually my gams), I sketched out the next pair in pencil, instead of going straight in with a ballpoint pen. I’ll sleep on it and when I’m happy with the pencilling, I’ll work it up in ink. These legs are partContinue reading “Pencils First”
I Done It Wrong!
Sometimes you put a lot of effort into something, stand back in satisfaction when it’s finished and…it sucks! It’s wrong! That’s what happened when I tried drawing the foot on the right a few days after drawing the one on the left. Maybe I should have done them at the same time.
Practicing Legs: 1
Now this will be ongoing as I’m planning quite a lot of work around legs over the next few months. But the staring point with me is drawing, always drawing, so I’ll be practicing sketching legs and boots for a while. At this stage, I’m getting used to perspective and foreshortening and also the actualContinue reading “Practicing Legs: 1”
