Sketchbook Archives: 30

Heads, Hand and Feet, a selection of sketchbook drawings from way back in July 2013, back before Covid19, remember those days? I went through a phase of sticking brown wrapping paper into my sketchbooks and drawing over it. I can’t remember why I stopped, I really like it. I’m not so keen on drawing ontoContinue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 30”

Scribbling And Gigging

Husb and I went to a gig this evening, put on by Yes Cymru and featuring one of our favourite local bands, Omnichron. I guess I’d describe their music as psychedelic dance. Had a great time. Of course, I had to have a scribble or two.

Here are some little scribbles from my sketchbook that I posted back in June 2013, gosh, 12 years ago already, back in the pre-Covid days. I’m not sure what people are doing in the first few sketches, maybe it was an art event? I like drawing people who are in unusual positions, it’s good practice.

Looking through old sketchbooks from June 2013, I found these from a visit to Aberdulais Falls, near Neath. It’s a National Trust property and very scenic, it was once painted by none other than the great Joseph Mallord William Turner in 1795, although the industrial heritage goes back to 1584. I was going through aContinue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 28”

Back in May 2013, I visited the USA to do a residency at Wingtip Press in Boise, Idaho. Here are some of my sketches from that visit. It was a fascinating journey, Idaho is the Wild West and the culture and geography are so different to the UK. I’m used to wet Wales and BoiseContinue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 27”

Here are some heads from May 2013. Three are from my sketchbooks, one is charcoal over a discarded cyanotype print, one chalk over an ink splash, and one full colour monotype. I think I like drawing people’s faces more than any other thing.

On Its Way Out…

My poor old (as in very old) laptop is on its way out. I’m hoping to get another in the next couple of days but until then, my blog posts might be a bit all over the shop, so it’s pot luck. Here are some trees. I painted them from a sketch done on myContinue reading “On Its Way Out…”

Piggies! This fine beast is from my blog in April 2013. I visited a farm and drew some Mangalitza pigs. I really liked my sketch of the boar and turned it into a little lino cut.

The Last Hat.

The last sketch and last hat from the Imbolc gig. There seems to be a trend for hatted performers at the moment for some reason. This is a fine bit of headgear and thankfully this musician isn’t bearded or bespectacled so he was a bit easier to draw.

Just A Bandana.

I was scribbling at a gig recently and most of the performers had some sort of combination of hats, beards and spectacles, which I find quite hard to draw. But here’s a performer without any of them. But he had a bandana. First time I think I’ve drawn a bandana. But it was ok.
