In The Market

I took a break from Swansea Fringe scribbling on Saturday and joined Husb and some friends for lunch at Swansea Market. There are some really good food places there and you can take it to a central food court to eat it. We had some gorgeous Greek food from Iokasti’s Kitchen. Of course, I hadContinue reading “In The Market”

The End Of A Sketchbook

I came to the end of my lovely cloth-bound sketchbook last night, at a gig in Elysium by Matthew Frederick. He had an interesting technique for playing his guitar across his lap, I haven’t seen that before. I really enjoyed the gig, not my usual thing, a very lovely singer songwriter, not heavy metal! IContinue reading “The End Of A Sketchbook”

Sketchbook Archives: 51

Looking through my sketchbook archives for November and December 2014, there are a few animals that are not domestic cats. There’s a lion and some lionesses drawn at Folly Farm, a friend’s dog, and some cyanotypes of pigeons that I had sketched years before.

Faces In My Sketchbook Archives: 47

July 2014 wasn’t just a month of time spent on Swansea Beach. I also managed to scribble quite a few heads into my sketchbook. I never go back to these and use them in another way. I don’t know why not, other artists use their sketchbook drawings for new work. Maybe it’s something I shouldContinue reading “Faces In My Sketchbook Archives: 47”

Sketchbook Archives: 46 – beer bellies and budgie smugglers…

I guess that July 2014 was a hot summer month going by all the sketches I did of people on the beach. The slightest bit of sunshine and we’re off down to Swansea Bay in our swimming cozzies. There were a fair few beer bellies and unfortunately a few “Budgie Smugglers” (Speedo men’s swimming trunks)Continue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 46 – beer bellies and budgie smugglers…”

Here are some people drawings from way back in June 2014, mostly in pen into a sketchbook but the last one is a digital scribble on my old Samsung Note 8 tablet, using a free Markers app. I did a bit of travelling that month, to London and Vienna. I used to travel a lotContinue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 45”

A Walk In The Woods

It’s been a gorgeous day, sunny and warm but not too warm, Autumnal. Husb and I hopped in the car around 4.30 and headed off out of the busy centre to Penllegare Woods, a truly magical place on the outskirts of the city. We spent an hour or so walking through the beautiful woodland, pastContinue reading “A Walk In The Woods”

Sketchbook Archives: 44

Some very quick sketches here, from June 2014. One of the good things of having little relatives is that they get very busy when you take them to the beach, a great chance to do some speed sketching.

Dark In The Park.

About an hour ago, twilight was coming on and Husb and I needed a bit of a walk. It’s a warm evening so we strolled to a nearby small park. More of a public gardens really, and I sat on a bench and had a quick scribble. The dark was coming down so I workedContinue reading “Dark In The Park.”
