It’s #Caturday Saturday and here are some archive images that I posted in January and March 2012, just a few months after I started this blog. They’re mostly Sparta Puss but there’s one of the late, great and much loved ‘Bobbit‘, another short-haired naughty tortie who died in 2011 at the age of 18.

Inspired By…
I am inspired by the Miners Wives from the 1984-1985 strike. And also by the radical printmaker Paul Peter Piech, whose lino and woodcut prints advocated for social justice. As well as larger complex, often coloured, linocuts for exhibitions, he also produced many small, simpler black and white prints that could be sold more cheaply,Continue reading “Inspired By…”
Inking Up…
I’ve been wallowing in the delicious smell of oily ink today, printing up small editions of my little lino blocks inspired by the brave Miners’ Wives from the strike of 1984-1985. I’ve got a printing station set up on top of one of my plans chests and I’m using Cranfield Safewash Relief Ink with aContinue reading “Inking Up…”
A Short Film: Getting Messy With Charcoal.
Here’s a short film that Husb made of one of my adult teaching sessions at GS Artists in Swansea, part of the 9to90 Community Arts programme, originated and organised by the artist Jane Simpson. It’s a 2 hour session edited down to under 2 minutes.
#Caturday Saturday Archives:1
It’s #Caturday Saturday and here are some old sketches from way back in 2011, when I first started this blog. Sparta Puss is here but so is the late, great and much loved ‘Little Ming’ aka ‘Ming The Merciless’, our tiny long-haired naughty tortie.
More Finger Fun…
I loved getting my fingers stuck into poster paints the other day, and just having fun with them. I used a big brush as well. It’s nothing really, sploshing about, but still an opportunity to see how paints work and how colours work.
A Finger Of Fun…
Art can be very serious and it’s nice now and again to just have a bit of fun and play with it. I stuck my fingers in some kids’ poster paints and splatted them onto a sheet of sturdy paper. It was fun but also I got effects I wouldn’t normally when I paint becauseContinue reading “A Finger Of Fun…”
Getting Ready To Print…
I’ve got three little lino blocks cut and ready to print, inspired by the research and drawings I did about the South Wales Miners’ Wives 1984-1985. I’ve set up the print station, everything’s ready to go. Eventually, these will be for sale here on my website.
#Caturday With Tulips
Here’s our little elderly rescue kitty, ‘Bill’ AKA ‘William Chatnoir’ AKA ‘Phoebe’ who came to us almost a year ago. She ended up in a rescue shelter when her beloved human sadly passed. She was fearful and depressed when she first moved in but she’s found her paws and is quite feisty now, especially whenContinue reading “#Caturday With Tulips”
A Bit Of Fun…
I had a bit of fun with this little lino block. I teach art to adults a couple of days a week and I’m running a course on lino printing at the moment. We’re doing ‘jigsaw’ lino blocks, and today I demonstrated how to maximise colour using the ‘rainbow roll’ technique. It’s nice to doContinue reading “A Bit Of Fun…”
