Just chilling last night with Husb and Sparta Puss. I had a little scribble. Bill aka William ChatNoir was lounging in another room.

Playing With Paint And Paper
I played around with some paint (Liquitex Heavy Body) and offcuts of paper (Bockingford 280gsm) and a palette knife, scraping the paint over the surface to make the most of the texture. I ripped the offcuts up and arranged them onto backing paper, to see what happened, then took photos of the compositions that IContinue reading “Playing With Paint And Paper”

Here’s a digital drawing of the Late, Great Little Ming, a tiny, fluffy, pretty one-eyed Naughty Tortie, who was also the scourge of our local vet’s surgery! We could pick her up, cwtch her, snuggle her, but when she was put into a cat basket and taken to the vet, she turned into a demon!Continue reading “#Caturday Archives: 27”
#Caturday Saturday
I acquired some second hand Derwent Aquatone watercolour sticks recently and I’m giving them a try-out. I used a stencil I made of our little rescue cat William Chatnoir aka Bill, to draw a couple of outlines onto some heavyweight Khadi paper and used an Escoda brush to start blending three different blues together. NotContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday”

Here’s a digital drawing of Sparta Puss from May 2014, when she was coming up to 5 years old. The nice thing about sketching on my Galaxy Tablet Note 8 is that I could hit the “save” button regularly and make a record of the stages of the drawing. I used a Markers free appContinue reading “#Caturday Archives: 25”

February 2014 was a month of mostly digital drawing, and I continued January’s animal theme with these little studies of foxes. Eleven years ago I had rarely seen a fox in the city, now I see loads, along with bats, squirrels, seagulls and birds of prey – kestrels, red kites and occasionally peregrine falcons. We’reContinue reading “Sketchbook Archives: 39”
And More Legs Inked And Printed.
I didn’t stop at one pair of heavy metal legs, oh no, I did another (and I’ve got a third pair on the go). I’ve been drawing loads of them at gigs and I’m having a bit of fun carving them into lino and printing them up. They’re different to the ones I posted yesterday.Continue reading “And More Legs Inked And Printed.”
Legs – Inked And Printed.
Here’s the first print of my little linocut “Heavy Metal Legs” that I based on many sketches of legs at heavy metal gigs in recent years. It’s a 10 x 10 cm square ready for submission to Miniprint Cymru.
Inking Up My Legs…
Well, not my legs exactly, my little lino block based on my series of sketches called “Heavy Metal Legs”. I’m using black Cranfield Caligo Safewash oil-based Relief Ink and traditional grey lino. I used Flexcut tools to cut the block.

Back about a decade ago I went through a phase of drawing on a Galaxy Tablet using a free “Markers” app. This is a digital sketch of a young Sparta, she was about 4 and a half years old here. She’s 16 this Autumn.
