I printed up another lino block portrait with chine collé, this time with just a small fragment to highlight the moon; my last post showed a lino print with much more chine collé. I like to use shiny metallic foils, mostly from sweet (candy) wrappings. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer confectionery companies are using foils theseContinue reading “A Bit More Chine Collé”

Using Chine Collé
This is one of my most recent series of linocuts, based on original portrait drawings. I had printed her before in black and white and yesterday, at a marathon printing session at Swansea Print Workshop, I printed her with some chine collé using gold and pink foils, black litho/relief ink by Cranfield and Hosho paper.Continue reading “Using Chine Collé”
Blocks Ready To Print!
I spent the afternoon at Swansea Print Workshop, printing 12 portrait lino blocks onto some rather nice Japanese Hosho paper. Here are the blocks ready to go…
And More Legs Inked And Printed.
I didn’t stop at one pair of heavy metal legs, oh no, I did another (and I’ve got a third pair on the go). I’ve been drawing loads of them at gigs and I’m having a bit of fun carving them into lino and printing them up. They’re different to the ones I posted yesterday.Continue reading “And More Legs Inked And Printed.”
Pink And Yellow Maris.
Here are some different colourways of my little Mari Lwyd lino block and Gel Plate monotypes that I was experimenting with during my residency at The Workers Gallery in Ynyshir last week. It’s a lovely place, do try and visit if you can. The Gel prints were made with Cranfield Safe Wash Relief inks in Process Yellow,Continue reading “Pink And Yellow Maris.”
Green And Yellow Mari.
I had fun overprinting my little Mari Lwyd lino block onto some circular Gel Plate monotypes. The monotypes were done using fruit nets and bubble wrap and Cranfield Safe-Wash relief inks mixed heavily with Extender. The three primary Process colours, overlaid, give a lovely range of secondary colours and tertiary tones. I was experimenting duringContinue reading “Green And Yellow Mari.”
Monotype And Mari Lwyd.
I spent a day up The Workers Gallery in Ynyshir yesterday and took a small lino block of a Mari Lwyd I cut a couple of years ago. I thought I’d try doing different things with it. I printed a border on a cheap cotton shirt (here) and then I switched inks and printed Mari’sContinue reading “Monotype And Mari Lwyd.”
Blue And Red Balls.
Still having some fun with my little round gel-plate, onion nets, bubble wrap and Cranfield Safe-Wash Relief inks.
A Blue Cast …
Here’s another little gel-plate experiment using a 10cm diameter round plate, with three primary colours – Process Yellow, Magenta and Cyan – with lots of Extender to make the colours translucent. It’s quite a random process and each one has turned out different. This has an overall Cyan cast but also the Magenta is quiteContinue reading “A Blue Cast …”
Blue Gelli.
I spent a bit more time playing with a gel plate at Swansea Print Workshop this afternoon, using a round gel plate, a few pieces of used bubble wrap, Cranfield Safe-Wash Process Cyan relief ink and Extender onto HoSho paper. I overprinted the pieces I’ve done in the last two weeks, mixing very little of the blueContinue reading “Blue Gelli.”
