Just Back …..

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop. It’s late and I’m off to bed soon. Here’s a 10 minute pose from our brilliant model. I drew with sanguine and black conte crayons onto vintage paper. Nos Da, Good Night

The One Full Hour

We have a tea break half way through the 3 hour life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop. Before the break we do a series of short poses but then in the second half we have just one full-hour pose. I have mixed feelings about these. There’s a lot to be said for having someContinue reading “The One Full Hour”

Wicked Foreshortening

Here’s a reclining pose from last week’s life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop. It’s got wicked foreshortening, which I love but I think it’s really hard to draw. I used white, sanguine and black conte crayons onto a lovely soft, textured vintage black paper. It was given to me by a friend from theContinue reading “Wicked Foreshortening”

The Building Blocks

This is one of the 30 minute poses from this week’s life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop. It wasn’t enough time to complete it but I like drawings that are unfinished, I like to see the building blocks of the image. I really like the hands in this pose. I used black, white andContinue reading “The Building Blocks”

The Quick Ones

Here are the two quick warm-up poses from last night’s life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop. The left is a 5 minute pose, the right a 10 minuter. I used white and sanguine conte crayons onto a very velvety heavy weight black paper. I don’t know where I got it from, I’ve been givenContinue reading “The Quick Ones”

I Like A Challenge

I love to draw reclining poses, I’m a bit of a glutton for punishment and I like the challenge of foreshortening. This one was challenging! I think I’m going to work on this with acrylic paints and really make a feature of the patterned throw. A Chance To Own One Of My Artworks I haveContinue reading “I Like A Challenge”

Why Didn’t I Do This Before?

I don’t know why I haven’t done this before, carry on working on top of an existing life drawing. I must have thousands of them, and I never think of continuing to develop them once I’m out of life drawing group. So last week I did. It’s a bit rough and ready and I needContinue reading “Why Didn’t I Do This Before?”

A Thick Border

Here’s another 30 minute pose from last week’s life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop. I’m working directly onto the paper (heavyweight vintage) with ink (home-made walnut husk) without mapping the drawing with a pencil first. The result isn’t as accurate but it’s pushing me out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing.Continue reading “A Thick Border”

Physicality And Personality

Here’s one of the 30 minute poses from the life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop last night. It’s good to be back, even if the numbers are so restricted. I tried doing an online life drawing class once during lock down but I couldn’t get on with it at all. Our models are aContinue reading “Physicality And Personality”

Life Drawing Tonight

Just back from life drawing session at Swansea Print Workshop, working with my home made walnut ink onto a heavyweight vintage paper. This is a quick pose, 10 minutes. And now I’m off to bed. Nos da, good night 😀
