I went to a talk at the Glynn Vivian art gallery in Swansea a few days ago and had a quick scribble of people in the audience. I noticed this woman with an armful of tattoos, a big hairbow and a retro floral dress. Made me smile.

Tent City
Back in 2012 I was up in London for a couple of days and looked in on the Occupy London camp outside St. Paul’s Cathedral. I had a scribble, it was a higgledy piggledy mass of multi-coloured tents and ramshackle structures and it was great to draw in my little sketchbook. This is a detailContinue reading “Tent City”
Vintage Paper
Here’s another monotype in progress with chine collé to add colour. I’ve used a beautiful vintage British paper by W. H. Saunders that found its way to me from an elderly retired printmaker and bookbinder via a print dealer and connoisseur. The chine collé is hand-made recycled silk sari paper with lovely fibres running throughContinue reading “Vintage Paper”
Splashes Of Colour
Here’s a new monotype based on an en plein air sketch I did a while back. I scribbled it into a sketchbook, a demo outside Swansea’s Waterfront Museum about the working conditions of lower-paid staff. I used tissue paper as chine collé to add splashes of colour. I’m doing a series of prints based onContinue reading “Splashes Of Colour”
The Ghosts Of Drawings
I’ve been busy making monotypes today, ready for International Women’s Day and an exhibition I’m organising with Patricia McKenna Jones. We have both been drawing into our sketchbooks for many years and we’re working some of our sketches up into prints. Here are the ghosts of the drawings on the inked-up Perspex, the prints willContinue reading “The Ghosts Of Drawings”
Still Revolting….
Patti McJones and Rosie Scribblah are Revolting Women. Oh yes we are. And we’re coming to a venue near you soon (well, near you if you live by Swansea, Wales, and soon-ish, around International Women’s’ Day in March).
Revolting Women
Patricia McKenna Jones and I are revolting women. We are working together to do an exhibition of our work for International Women’s Day in March. Watch this space!
Newest Member
Went out with family this evening and had a quick scribble of our newest member as she was having her feed. Babies have strange proportions and I find them challenging to draw because I find myself wanting to draw what I think should be there, rather than what is there. It’s lovely to have aContinue reading “Newest Member”
Does Anyone Say Biro Anymore?
Husb and I were out and about today, doing some shopping for art supplies at The Range and we stopped for a cuppa. I spotted this woman across the cafe, absorbed in reading and thought I’d have a quick scribble, en plein air, into my very small sketchbook, about 5 inches by 3.5 using aContinue reading “Does Anyone Say Biro Anymore?”
