I know it’s late 😀 Yesterday was one of those hectic days – nice though. So here’s an analytical sketch of the chunky one – Sparta Puss, our naughty tortie. An analytical sketch is one that tries to analyse the shapes and get used to what’s going on before developing further. I’ll probably do 2Continue reading “#Caturday – The Chunky One.”

#Caturday Saturday.
Here’s our little rescue cat, Bill AKA William Chat Noir formerly Phoebe. She was very timid and depressed when she came to us, just over a year ago. She was 14 years old, her human had passed and she was handed into a rescue centre. She had been with her human since she was aContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday.”
#Caturday Saturday.
And for this week’s #Caturday, here’s Sparta Puss in Violet and Orange. She’s been very naughty today, leaned across my lap and licked my ice cream, tried to murder me on the stairs (lurking), pooped on the throw that covers her cushion. So today has been a Naughty Tortie Caturday.
#Caturday Saturday: The Visitor.
It’s #Caturday and this is a local handsome boi who pops around for a visit every few weeks. He stops by for a chat (he’s very vocal) and receives some snacks before going on his way again. He seems very well cared for, I think he’s just a bit of a wanderer who likes toContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday: The Visitor.”
#Caturday Saturday Archives: 2
It’s #Caturday Saturday and here are some archive images that I posted in January and March 2012, just a few months after I started this blog. They’re mostly Sparta Puss but there’s one of the late, great and much loved ‘Bobbit‘, another short-haired naughty tortie who died in 2011 at the age of 18.
Inspired By…
I am inspired by the Miners Wives from the 1984-1985 strike. And also by the radical printmaker Paul Peter Piech, whose lino and woodcut prints advocated for social justice. As well as larger complex, often coloured, linocuts for exhibitions, he also produced many small, simpler black and white prints that could be sold more cheaply,Continue reading “Inspired By…”
Inking Up…
I’ve been wallowing in the delicious smell of oily ink today, printing up small editions of my little lino blocks inspired by the brave Miners’ Wives from the strike of 1984-1985. I’ve got a printing station set up on top of one of my plans chests and I’m using Cranfield Safewash Relief Ink with aContinue reading “Inking Up…”
A Short Film: Getting Messy With Charcoal.
Here’s a short film that Husb made of one of my adult teaching sessions at GS Artists in Swansea, part of the 9to90 Community Arts programme, originated and organised by the artist Jane Simpson. It’s a 2 hour session edited down to under 2 minutes.
#Caturday Saturday Archives:1
It’s #Caturday Saturday and here are some old sketches from way back in 2011, when I first started this blog. Sparta Puss is here but so is the late, great and much loved ‘Little Ming’ aka ‘Ming The Merciless’, our tiny long-haired naughty tortie.
More Finger Fun…
I loved getting my fingers stuck into poster paints the other day, and just having fun with them. I used a big brush as well. It’s nothing really, sploshing about, but still an opportunity to see how paints work and how colours work.
