Legs – Inked And Printed.
Here’s the first print of my little linocut “Heavy Metal Legs” that I based on many sketches of legs at heavy metal gigs in recent years. It’s a 10 x 10 cm square ready for submission to Miniprint Cymru.
Inking Up My Legs…
Well, not my legs exactly, my little lino block based on my series of sketches called “Heavy Metal Legs”. I’m using black Cranfield Caligo Safewash oil-based Relief Ink and traditional grey lino. I used Flexcut tools to cut the block.
Carving Tattooed Legs.
I’m working on some small blocks of grey lino, making art for the forthcoming “Welsh Miniprint” exhibition. This is based on many drawings I’ve done of legs at heavy metal gigs. It’s very small so I’m using my tiniest Flexcut gouge to carve the detail of the tattoos.

I was in Cardiff at the annual Printed Festival in the Chapter Art Centre this afternoon, helping out on Swansea Print Workshop’s pitch. Here’s one of my colleagues doing some demonstrations of tiny prints made with the Tetra Pak drypoint technique.
Got The Blues…
I tried out some cyanotype prints the other day, when the sun was really strong. I’m not happy with the result, it’s too blue, there’s no white, no contrast.
