I try to get along to life drawing sessions at Swansea Print Workshop as often as possible as drawing underpins everything I do artistically and I need to practice. This is a fab model, she’s excellent and I love to draw her. Unfortunately, even the most experienced models can get a dead leg and that’sContinue reading “Running Out Of Time”

A Stiff Leg
Just back from Swansea Print Workshop’s weekly life drawing, it’s late and I’m tired. Our model got tired too, her leg went stiff and painful after about 40 minutes so we spent the last 10 minutes doing a quick pose that didn’t hurt her leg. I like it. It’s drawn with white and sanguine contéContinue reading “A Stiff Leg”
It’s Wonky But I Like It
Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop, working with one of my favourite models, an older woman with a face and body full of character. I drew onto brown wrapping paper with white, sanguine and black conté crayon, in that order. The drawing is a bit wonky, but I actually like it likeContinue reading “It’s Wonky But I Like It”
Maybe A Drypoint?
Here’s the second drawing I did at life drawing group recently, a quick one, just a few minutes. I drew it onto a scrap of Somerset paper with a Faber Castell Pitt drawing pen. It’s nice and scribbly and I think it might make a good drypoint. I might give it a go next week.Continue reading “Maybe A Drypoint?”
Keeping At It
A couple of weeks ago at life drawing group at Swansea Print Workshop, I spent most of the session drawing hands, always a difficult area for me. I kept at it and finally ended up with something I really liked. I was working with an older male model and it’s interesting to see how ageContinue reading “Keeping At It”
A State Of Grace
Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop. It’s late and I’m tired, but it was a joy to draw this model, to lose myself in the act of drawing and forget that I’m shattered, my feet hurt and my back’s aching. It’s like entering a state of meditation – or a state of graceContinue reading “A State Of Grace”

The exhibition opens on Wednesday March 8th, International Women’s Day and continues throughout the month. CinemaContinue reading “Self Portrait With A Male Nude”

My piece is stitched Shiohara paper overstitched with printed images of Käthe Kollwitz forming the front part of a late nineteenth century corset.. W.M.D. (above)Continue reading “And ….. Breathe ……”
Slow Selfie
Here I am looming in the background of the life drawing I did last night at Swansea Print Workshop. It’s a slow selfie. I always look so cross when I’m drawing. Ho hum. I am putting my series of drawings of ancient Welsh monuments on Artfinder. If you want to see more, please clickContinue reading “Slow Selfie”
A Grand Night Out
So there we were, Husb and I splashing through the torrential rain on the dark, sodden streets of Pontypridd, early evening, searching for somewhere to get some hot food fairly quickly because we were on our way to somewhere else. The only half decent place we could find was a chippy, so we sat inContinue reading “A Grand Night Out”
