#Caturday Archives: 24

It’s such a long time ago now, that I did a month-long artist residency in Pakistan, it was wonderful. And I met a Pakistani cat called Messi. So I drew him. I was going through a digital drawing phase at the time, using a free Markers app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Back about a decade ago I went through a phase of drawing on a Galaxy Tablet using a free “Markers” app. This is a digital sketch of a young Sparta, she was about 4 and a half years old here. She’s 16 this Autumn.

#Caturday Saturday

Someone gave me some slightly used Derwent AQUAtone watercolour sticks to try out (they’re now discontinued). I have a sheet of Khadi handmade paper. And I have a stencil in the shape of our little rescue cat Bill aka William Chatnoir. I’m planning to have some fun here.

Here’s a very old sketch of the late, great Bobbit. We had her as a kitten of 8 weeks way back in the summer of 1994, and this sketch is from 2011, when she was enjoying the sun by dozing in a drain! She died a few weeks later aged 17, enjoying the sunshine andContinue reading “#Caturday Archives: 22”

#Caturday Archives: 21

Here’s a blast from the past for this week’s #Caturday Saturday, from 2011. Husb and I had two naughty torties, Bobbit and Ming. They hated each other but had to learn to live together for many years. I drew this just a few weeks before Bobbit died, of very old age. She was very poorlyContinue reading “#Caturday Archives: 21”

Writhing Strokes…

I am lucky to do quite a bit of teaching in Community Arts and I worked with a lovely group at Swansea’s GS Artists last week, teaching how to paint an imaginary landscape inspired by Vincent van Gogh. In two hours! 😀 We used canvas boards, acrylic paints and palette knives. This is a smallContinue reading “Writhing Strokes…”

#Caturday

It’s #Caturday Saturday again and here’s my silhouette of Little Bill looking at a copy I did of van Gogh’s painting of his bedroom at Arles. Throughout the Covid lockdown, I spent my Friday lunchtimes on Facebook, joining in with the artist Ed Sumner, who ran the Cheese and Wine Paint Club. He did 72Continue reading “#Caturday”

#Caturday Silhouette: 22

It’s #Caturday Saturday once again and this week I put the positive silhouette of little Bill, our elderly rescue cat, onto a copy I made of a David Hockney painting during lockdown. The painter Ed Sumner ran a free Friday afternoon art class, The Cheese and Wine Painting Club, throughout Covid, teaching by copying the greatContinue reading “#Caturday Silhouette: 22”

#Caturday Silhouette 21: The Hockney Cat.

#Caturday Saturday seems to come around so quickly! This week I put the negative silhouette on top of a copy I made of a David Hockney painting during lockdown. The painter Ed Sumner ran a free Friday afternoon art class, The Cheese and Wine Painting Club, throughout Covid, teaching by copying the great artists. ThisContinue reading “#Caturday Silhouette 21: The Hockney Cat.”
