Drawing Musicians 2

My great nephew performed in his first college concert yesterday, so I went along to listen and scribble. It’s so good to see the next generation of musicians coming through, all teenagers and all obviously totally committed to their craft. Coincidentally the performance arts campus is my old school, Llwyn y Bryn. I hadn’t beenContinue reading “Drawing Musicians 2”

Drawing Musicians 1

I went to see my young nephew play in his first college concert this evening. He’s studying for Level 3 Music Performance and the students have been put into bands and they had to write some original songs and perform them. It was lovely seeing …. and hearing …. so many talented young people. OfContinue reading “Drawing Musicians 1”

Squint And Scribble.

Here’s a second sketch I made at the Filia 2022 conference yesterday. I was drawing women on the stage a long way away so I had to squint a lot and I couldn’t see much detail. I used ballpoint pen and then added colour washes with Derwent Inktense blocks and a water reservoir brush. ThisContinue reading “Squint And Scribble.”

#Caturday Archives 10

It’s Saturday #Caturday again and here are some kitty drawings from my sketchbook archives. Sparta Puss was sleeping on my lap so I did a few quick sketches of her, all on the same page, trying to capture the essence of her cattitude rather than doing a detailed drawing. I like the way the scribblesContinue reading “#Caturday Archives 10”

Balloons!

Went to a birthday party over the weekend and scribbled some kids playing with balloons. No X Boxes, no smart phones, no expensive toys. Just some balloons. What joy. They move fast, kids do, so it was good practice to sketch them.

Hanging In The Hangar.

I drew these characters the other night, when Husb and I went to Hangar 18 at the weekend to see an alien band called Henge. I like sketching in public, drawing people in their wild state 😀

The Cosmic Alien.

Husb and I went to Hangar 18 at the weekend to see an alien band called Henge. They were brilliant – sort of cosmic psychedelic high energy rave-rock with a big dollop of humour. I did a scribble of the lead singer. I’m loving getting back to going to gigs, I realise how much IContinue reading “The Cosmic Alien.”

#Caturday Archives 9

It’s Saturday / Caturday again and here’s one from my kitty archives. One day Sparta Puss stayed still long enough for me to do quite a detailed drawing of her, perched on top of our vintage glass display cabinet that we found in the street one day. Not sure if it’s a 1930s one orContinue reading “#Caturday Archives 9”

You Ain’t Seen Ruthin Yet!

I have some of my printmaking in a group exhibition opening tomorrow at The Print Studio in Ruthin. My monotype about the bedroom tax, based on an original sketchbook drawing at a demonstration, is part of the main show and I have a selection of lino prints in the browser. So, if you fancy aContinue reading “You Ain’t Seen Ruthin Yet!”

Scribbling The Corner….

Sitting on the settee the other evening, scribbling one of the corners in the room. I try to sketch every day, don’t always manage it, and sometimes I get bogged down in trying to find a “suitable” subject, when really it doesn’t matter. I should just draw what’s there in front of me. There’s alwaysContinue reading “Scribbling The Corner….”
