I finished carving my little lino yesterday evening, with a Mari Lwyd design from an original drawing en plein air. So today, off to Swansea Print Workshop to print it up. I used Caligo / Cranfield Safe Wash Relief ink with a Hosho Japanese paper and some recycled sari silk paper for the chineContinue reading “A Massive Of Mari’s?”

Movement And Proportion
So a few more quick scribbles from a local café, Waterstones, which is on the first floor so I could look down into the street and draw people going about their Xmas shopping. It was getting dark and it had been raining so the roads and pavements were wet and shiny. This chap was squattingContinue reading “Movement And Proportion”
Big And Baggy
Husb and I stopped for a cuppa in Waterstones café yesterday, having a break from the mid-winter gloom. We sat in the window overlooking the street where Woolworths used to be which is now Poundland, it’s a good vantage point for drawing people going about their business. It was getting dark and everywhere wasContinue reading “Big And Baggy”
Living Legend
Husb and I went to a talk at Swansea Art College featuring living legend artist Sir Peter Blake, one of the original Pop Artists and still practicing at the age of 86. He’s a fascinating character and it was great to hear him talking about the examples of the work shown. I managed a scribble,Continue reading “Living Legend”
Saint, Sunlight And Scabby Exterior
I did more sketching towards the end of my recent holiday in Italy, in Bologna, than earlier in Florence, mainly, I think, because making art is my profession and drawing while I’m on vacation feels like work. Galvani

When I draw statues, I try to get them fromContinue reading “Galvani”

Seagulls At Sunset
Seagulls at sunset hanging out of the spiky bits on top of the towers on top of the mosque that used to be a church. There was a seagull on each one.
Taking Proofs
I did some test proof prints from my sample woodblock, using Caligo Safewash relief ink onto MDF. I did a few printings onto different papers and using different densities of ink – I mixed extender in for some of them. To be honest, I don’t particularly like any of them, they’re a bit too faded. IContinue reading “Taking Proofs”
A Head In The Gallery
Another face scribbled in the gallery the other evening…… always good practice to draw when I’m in an audience ….. using a ballpoint pen into a small notebook …..
