Thunder And Rodents

Just back from an evening Open Access session at Swansea Print Workshop where I did the third in a series of impressionistic monotype landscapes based on the residency I did in Pakistan earlier this year. This is one of a sequence I drew in a thunderstorm. Had a tough day. Sparta Puss the evil-kitty-from-hell, terrorisedContinue reading “Thunder And Rodents”

And Now, The Ghost

Following on from yesterday’s post about my latest reduction monotype, this is the ‘ghost’ image that is formed by putting a second piece of paper through the press after the first image is taken off the perspex plate. This gives a paler, ethereal monotype, where the pigment has broken up into little grains, ratherContinue reading “And Now, The Ghost”

Stacking

Spent a happy few hours at Swansea Print Workshop this evening, making another small monotype based on one of my pastel landscape drawings from the residency I did in Pakistan earlier this year. I did a series of 49 small drawings very quickly, so they are very impressionistic. This is based on one of theContinue reading “Stacking”

Atmospheric Monotypes

Small Sprogs And Petit Prints

We took them to West Wales, firstly to the Honey Farm and then the beach at New Quay on Cardigan Bay. We had fun! Before we left, I receivedContinue reading “Small Sprogs And Petit Prints”

More Mini Monos

After two days in Bath at Fringe Arts Bath with the Commensalis group, I came home and did a day of making monotypes at Creative Bubble with the 15 Hundred Lives art collective. I was there on Monday doing more of the same. Today I used some drawings of a hare and badger from myContinue reading “More Mini Monos”

Mini Monos

I spent today at the Creative Bubble artspace in the city centre. I’m a member of an art collective called 15 Hundred Lives and we’re at Creative Bubble all week with an exhibition of our work and each of us is doing demonstrations of techniques that we use. Today I worked on some new littleContinue reading “Mini Monos”

Lush Leftovers

Just back from the opening night of Leftovers 4 and Public Gestures, two cracking exhibitions of international printmaking at The Cove in Swansea. Leftovers is the brainchild of Amy Nack , director of Wingtip Press in Bois, Idaho, USA. Now in its 5th year, printmakers from across the world contribute tiny pieces to this travellingContinue reading “Lush Leftovers”

Preparing For The Show

I’m putting up a double printmaking show this weekend; ‘Leftovers 4′ and ‘Public Gesture‘. The first has over 160 miniature prints from the USA, Canada, Wales / UK, Israel, New Zealand, Norway and Australia. The second is a small portfolio of 13 monotypes that were a collaborative project between artists linked to Wingtip Press inContinue reading “Preparing For The Show”
