Silly Slippers

Today has been hectic with visits to Cardiff in the afternoon and Trebanos this evening. Got back home about 10.30 pm so I was straight into my pajamas and silly slippers and that’s what I have sketched into my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 using the free Markers app.

Bedtime now 🙂

Who Wears Short Shorts?

20140711_210049(2)

We wear short shorts! It’s summer and everyone on the beach is in shorts. It’s the law lol 🙂 I stopped for a scribble with my tiny spotty A6 sketchbook and a Faber Castell Pitt drawing pen size S. There’s Mumbles in the background. The name allegedly comes from the French, Mamelles, or breasts, spotted by French sailors arriving into Swansea Bay. Those French! And behind Mumbles, across the sea, is England, the hills of North Devon.

Wrong! Wrong! Not Too Bad!

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop. Not had a good time, didn’t take my mojo with me. My first two drawings were clunky and didn’t work at all. So I gave up trying to draw the full figure and focused on his head. It was better.

I’ve worked with this model before, quite successfully, but I used different media. I decided to give charcoal and chalk on newspaper a go this evening and I couldn’t really get into it. But ho hum. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

Scribbling Overlay

Husb was hoovering around the house so I followed him with my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8, scribbling with the free Markers app.

He moves fast when he’s doing housework so I had to do speed sketches. It’s a bit cumbersome to keep resetting the little computer box to do new drawings and I didn’t want to faff around doing that, so I changed the colour of the line and drew over the top.

Feline Muse

Had another long day behind a computer and ended up sitting in front of the telly quite late with a cat sleeping on my lap. I haven’t done any drawing so far today so the cat will have to be my model. She likes posing. I have used my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8, with a free Markers app.

Badly Drawn Man

I’ve been really busy with computer stuff and family doings today and I had to snatch a few minutes to do today’s sketch just now. I bought ‘Game Of Thrones’ earlier and here’s Husb reading it on the settee. It’s huge. A lot of what artists make isn’t very good, that’s why old canvasses have often been overpainted. This is one of those. It would be tempting just to put my ‘best’ work on this blog but that isn’t the reality of being an artist. Sometimes it’s not good. Lots of times, in fact.

Whinberries On The Beacons

We spent a couple of hours foraging for whinberries on the Brecon Beacons earlier today. Whinberries are a type of blueberry or bilberry and the picking season is very short. I haven’t been out picking them for years and I can’t remember how I cooked them before.

Traditionally, they’re baked in a pie. I’ll sleep on it and make something nice for tea tomorrow. I stopped picking for a few minutes to scribble Husb in my tiny spotty sketchbook with a Faber Castell Pitt drawing pen size S.

Sleepy Pigs And Wonky Ducks

Husb and I spent a happy few hours at Swansea Community Farm today. There was a hog roast, demonstrations of spinning and felt making, live bands, and animals. The critters live pretty free lives and many were wandering around. These sweet spotty piglets were dozing in a shady spot out of the dazzling sunshine. They piled up on top of each other on a comfy bed of hay.

They were nice and still while I drew them on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 with a free Markers app. The ducks, however, would not stay still. I did my best but they’re all wonky.

The Egon Shiele model (female nude)

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop. We had the ‘Egon Shiele’ model again. She’s great to draw. This was a one hour pose and a lot of it was spent drawing the hands. I used my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 with the free Markers app.

I saved the drawing regularly to make a slideshow of the development of the drawing.

One I Did Earlier

20140702_213749(1)

Feeling a bit poorly today, might have caught the family stomach bug so I haven’t done any drawings so here’s one I did earlier, a couple of weeks ago when Husb and I were in Vienna. We were exploring and stopped to rest a while under a scented tree, a tilia I think, in a small square around an ancient church. I had a quick scribble into my A6 spotty sketchbook with a Faber Castell Pitt drawing pen size S. The church has flying buttresses. I’m a sucker for flying buttresses.
