There’s an Open Weekend at Swansea Print Workshop coming up (see below) and I’m sorting out some of my work to put on sale. I’ve been doing some little linocut prints onto postcards so I’ll pop these into small frames and sell them at relatively low prices. They are all embellished with chine collé, usingContinue reading “#Caturday: Two Cats And A Horse”

#Caturday: Winter Window
It’s #Caturday Saturday again and here that little block I cut last week, printed in black with a touch of gold foil chine collé highlighting the moon. The foil is from sweets (candies); there are fewer manufacturers making them these days, I find them in upmarket retailers and traditional old-fashioned sweet shops.
Winter Cat
I’ve got a community arts teaching session coming up this week, we’ll be doing Xmas / Winter-themed lino cuts. I’m getting one prepared in advance, I’ve drawn the design onto a piece of traditional grey lino, ready to cut. This traditional material is made from linseed oil, pine resin and wood flour onto a juteContinue reading “Winter Cat”
#Caturday Saturday
I carried on with this little cat piece, using Derwent Aquatone watercolour sticks onto a heavy watercolour paper with Escoda Versátil brushes. The cat shapes are from a stencil I cut of our little Bill the rescue cat some time ago. This is the first thing I’ve done with the Aquatone sticks and I’m getting usedContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday”
#Caturday Saturday
I carried on playing with some Derwent Aquatone watercolour sticks that I was given a while back. I did a blend of Prussian Blue, Ultramarine and Light Blue a couple of weeks ago and today worked in some Spectrum Orange and Middle Chrome. The cat shapes are from a stencil I cut of our littleContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday”
#Caturday Saturday
I acquired some second hand Derwent Aquatone watercolour sticks recently and I’m giving them a try-out. I used a stencil I made of our little rescue cat William Chatnoir aka Bill, to draw a couple of outlines onto some heavyweight Khadi paper and used an Escoda brush to start blending three different blues together. NotContinue reading “#Caturday Saturday”
#Caturday Archives 4
It’s Saturday / #Caturday and here’s another from my kitty archives. This is Little Ming, our floofy tortoiseshell rescue cat, now sadly no longer with us. But she was 18 when she died which was really good considering the awful life she started out with, poor little mite. Here she is lying on top ofContinue reading “#Caturday Archives 4”
#Caturday Archives
It’s Saturday / #Caturday so here’s another from my kitty archives. I went through a phase of doing digital drawings on my Samsung Galaxy 8 tablet a few years back and the cats were good subjects for the programme – a free app called Markers which is great for sketching. Here’s Little Ming, our fluffyContinue reading “#Caturday Archives”
One Eyed Ming
This is Ming the Merciless, our one eyed rescue kitteh. We love her very much. She often poses for me when I cannot be bothered to get up from my comfy chair on a grey, wet, miserable evening. Like now. It’s that dense grey drizzle that so often puts the dampener on Welsh summers. ButContinue reading “One Eyed Ming”
