A Short Film: Getting Messy With Charcoal.

Here’s a short film that Husb made of one of my adult teaching sessions at GS Artists in Swansea, part of the 9to90 Community Arts programme, originated and organised by the artist Jane Simpson. It’s a 2 hour session edited down to under 2 minutes.

Learning About Cyanotypes…

I’m running a cyanotype session at GS Artists this coming Friday as part of their 9-to-90 Creative Community. I love working there, the atmosphere is terrific. If you want to come along, it’s free but you’ll need to reserve a place on Eventbrite because spaces are limited – here’s the link. There are lots ofContinue reading “Learning About Cyanotypes…”

Grym : Power.

The rough hewn cut-marks gouged into the lino form cloisons that enclose shiny jewels of metallic watercolours. The block is printed in the deepest black oil-based ink onto a Japanese HoSho paper and when dry, watercolour paints are applied with the finest Isabey squirrel brushes. I’ve been working on a collaborative project with the multi-disciplinaryContinue reading “Grym : Power.”

I’ve been working on a collaborative project with the awesome Welsh rapper and multi-disciplinary artist RUFUS MUFASA  and nine other women artists in Wales – ANGELA KARADOG, HANNAH HITCHINS, RHIAN ANDERSON, FRANCESCA KAY, HELEN MALIA, KARLA BRADING, ELIN REES, VIVIAN RHULE, LYNNE BEBB and me, ROSIE SCRIBBLAH. Metallic Bits …

I’ve been working on a typographic linocut recently, a collaboration with the awesome Welsh rapper and multi-disciplinary artist Rufus Mufasa and nine other women artists in Wales . She’s about to release her new bilingual album Tri(ger) Warning(s), which has been steered by a number of key Welsh language words. Each artist has chosen oneContinue reading “Metallic Bits …”

One, Two, Three ……

The show is in Orchard Street Gallery which is part of HQ Urban Kitchen on Swansea’s Orchard Street and runs through to the end of January. The other venues showing my work are Cinema&Co.ffee and GS Artists.

Having A Bit Of Fun.

Art is often seen as highbrow and serious but art is also fun and Husb and I had a great time this evening at GS Artist’s opening event for this year’s 9to90 Creative Community Annual Show – and collage session. Swansea artist Rachael Barry provided the inspiration to chill out and have a good timeContinue reading “Having A Bit Of Fun.”

Celebrity Portrait In 2 Hours.

I taught an adult education class this afternoon with the 9-to-90 Creative Community at the excellent GS Artists on Swansea’s High Street. The theme was to paint a portrait of the Divine Diva, Dame Shirley Bassey. In TWO hours! A bit challenging 😀 But we did it. The results will be in the venue’s nextContinue reading “Celebrity Portrait In 2 Hours.”

Seeing What’s Happening Again…

I’m cutting a second Mari Lwyd lino block for this week’s adult teaching session with the 9-to-90 Creative Community at GS Artists. Once again I checked how my block was coming along with a piece of tracing paper over it, rubbed hard with a block of graphite and I now have a better idea of whatContinue reading “Seeing What’s Happening Again…”

A Simple Still-Life: A “How To” Film.

Here’s a short (2 minute) “How To” film from a recent session I ran at GS Artists in Swansea, as part of their 9to90 Community Arts programme. It was a simple still-life in acrylic paints. The film shows how I started with a couple of basic drawing techniques and then took a look at some examples of still-life paintings ofContinue reading “A Simple Still-Life: A “How To” Film.”
