Live At The Boxing Club: 3

The other week, I went and had a scribble at the Gwent Boxing Club in Townhill in Swansea. The lads are really, really fast so there was no time to do any detailed drawing, I could only do speed sketching. It was good practice to capture movement as quickly as I could. I could see movements and body shapes that I wouldn’t normally see.

Live At The Boxing Club: 2

Just a quick blog post this evening, just got back from a gig at the Patti Pavilion, Warmduscher was headlining. Great vibe, jumped about a bit too much and I’m aching. A nice cup of tea and a couple of paracetamol is what I need now 😀

The speed sketch was done recently at Gwent Boxing Club in Swansea.

#Caturday Silhouette: 3

I’m clearing out my plans chests. I have two and I want to cut back to one. That’s a lot of sorting to do. As I’m going along I’m finding lots of nice papers that I’ve coloured up for one reason or another, so I’m having a bit of #Caturday fun with some cat silhouettes I cut out a while back, putting them onto different backgrounds. Art doesn’t have to be serious all the time. The silhouette shows our little elderly rescue cat, William ChatNoir, aka Bill.

Skipping.

I drew some of the guys at the boxing club as they skipped the other evening. They are SO fast. The skipping ropes were a blur!

From The Ceiling And The Floor.

My first sketch from the boxing club last week, a warm up to get some proportions using continuous line, looking at the punch bags connecting to the ceiling and the floor, before the boxers arrived.

Jelly Houses.

I did lots of Gelli Plate prints today, using a house motif. I cut house shapes in light card and used them as stencils. I used Liquitex Heavy Body acrylic paints. They’re for a specific project…more on that to come…

Through A Looking Glass…

I visited a boxing club to draw the other evening. Before the boxers arrived I turned to a large mirror and drew what I could see. I found it easier drawing the image in the mirror than drawing the real world. I used the continuous line technique as the scene is very complicated.

Sketchbook Archives: 16

Here’s a snapshot of September 2012, when we spent a lot of time in hospital, visiting elderly relatives. The three at the top were patients in the ward with our relative, and the bottom two show one of our younger family members on a visit.

#Caturday Silhouette: 2

I cut out a cat silhouette based on our Bill a while back and rediscovered them, the positive and negative, as I’m clearing out my plans chests (that’s another story). I’m having fun playing with these little silhouettes on different backgrounds. Here’s the positive, I did the negative on the same background a couple of Caturdays ago.
