As well as an artist, I’m also an educator and I love to work in community arts with adults. The 9to90 Creative Community is one I work with a lot and they’re having an exhibition at Elysium Gallery in Swansea. On one of the walls is displayed the acrylic painted portraits I taught them. IContinue reading “A Wall Of Portraits.”

More Big And Messy.
Here are a couple more paintings done by participants at GS Artists in Swansea, as part of their excellent 9to90 Community Arts programme. We did BIG and MESSY acrylic paintings with tennis-themed life size figures. Paint was applied with sponges, bath scrunchies and occasionally even big paint brushes.
Big And Messy!
I did some teaching this week, with a group of adults at GS Artists in Swansea as part of their excellent 9to90 Community Arts programme. We did BIG acrylic paintings with life size figures and a tennis theme for Summer. And it was MESSY! Loved it! I started out by getting people to draw around each others bodies toContinue reading “Big And Messy!”
With Splodges!
Here’s the other quick painting I did when I dropped into University of Wales Trinity Saint Davids (AKA Swansea Art College) yesterday to try my hand at hard edge acrylic painting, using ripped masking tape, spray paint, bubble wrap and a pipette onto paper. I prefer it to the other one, there’s more going on.Continue reading “With Splodges!”
An Open Mind.
I dropped in to University of Wales Trinity Saint Davids, or as I still call it, Swansea Art College, this afternoon for a practice session doing hard edge acrylic painting. I haven’t done anything like this before, it was fun. I used ripped masking tape and spray paint onto canvas. I’ve never used spray paintContinue reading “An Open Mind.”
Family, Zoom And Scraps Of Colour
Every week since early in lockdown we have had a family quiz with relatives from as far afield as Australia and Ammanford. It’s helped us all to cope, especially when the lockdown was at its toughest, although our Australian family are now in a second lockdown. Zoom came along at the right time. I usedContinue reading “Family, Zoom And Scraps Of Colour”
Still Squiggling
Had some more leftover paint again today so I played with it and had a squiggle session on some leftovers Bockingford paper. I’m beginning to enjoy the feel of the paint on the paper and the way it layers up and changes. Oh, and I used a pallette knife as well – advanced stuff 😀Continue reading “Still Squiggling”
Playing Some More
Had a bit more of a play today, using up leftover Liquitex acrylic paint on some leftover Bockingford paper. It’s not meant to look like anything, I’m trying to enjoy the paint for its own sake, which isn’t easy for me to do, I don’t lean naturally towards abstract painting.
Splatter!
I work part-time for a national homelessness charity, just a few hours a week where I run fine art courses for people who use the service. Today I started an acrylics painting course. I like to jump straight in with something practical so I did a group abstract painting exercise. After a quick explanation ofContinue reading “Splatter!”
Putting The Work In….
Putting The Work In…. So the past few days I’ve been slapping an underpainting onto a canvas but now the serious stuff has to start, I need to get stuck into the details. I want to have the head thrown back from the torso so I took a few photos of long-suffering Husb (I guessContinue reading “Putting The Work In….”
