I did some drawing this evening down at the Zoology Museum in Swansea University. It’s a small place but jam packed full of fascinating specimens. I did a reduction drawing of the skull of a large fish. There was some debate about whether it was a whiting, like the label said, or a cod. Continue reading “Head Of Cod”

Scribbling Heads
And here’s the last drawing I did at the Glynn Vivian art gallery in Swansea the other evening. Husb and I went to the private view and curators’ talk for the new drawing exhibition, “Hand Drawn Action Packed“. It’s a really good show and it’s free entry too. I scribbled these heads into my littleContinue reading “Scribbling Heads”
Fitting It In
Husb and I were at the preview of the new drawing exhibition, “Hand Drawn Action Packed” at Swansea’s most excellent Glynn Vivian art gallery the other evening. I scribbled of course, which was fitting, given that it’s a drawing exhibition. I find it difficult to cram an entire subject onto the page – IContinue reading “Fitting It In”
A Captive Audience
The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea has a fabulous drawing exhibition, “Hand Drawn Action Packed“, which opened with a guided talk from the show’s curators, Roger Malbert and Antonia Shaw. These events are always good for a quick scribble, people are generally quite still. I always carry a sketchbook – this is anContinue reading “A Captive Audience”
A Drawing Exhibition
Husb and I went to Swansea’s Glynn Vivian art gallery this evening for the preview of the latest exhibition “Hand Drawn Action Packed“, an exhibition of artists who draw. It’s fantastic to see a drawing exhibition in a prestigious gallery. Of course, I had a scribble. Well, I would, wouldn’t I? There are tenContinue reading “A Drawing Exhibition”
More En Plein Air
Sometimes life gets in the way of art and it can be difficult to do something creative every day. If I’m working on a commission or developing an exhibition, it’s easy because I’m at it all the time, but in the in-between times like the past week or two, I find it hard toContinue reading “More En Plein Air”
Fun With The Family
Husb and I took two young relatives to the Glynn Vivian art gallery in Swansea today. Every Saturday there’s a free, family-friendly art session with a resident artist who encourages people to draw and paint, inspired by artists in the gallery collection. This week focused on the artist Ceri Richards and the poet Vernon Watkins.Continue reading “Fun With The Family”
Root And Branch: Gwreiddyn A Changen
Coming up February 16th and 17th, I’ll be running a 2 day printmaking masterclass at Swansea’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery inspired by the forthcoming exhibition PHYTOPIA. The creative imagery of the tree is rooted in the ancient oak forests of Britain, growing through the ages to branch into the present. From ancient Druidic and CelticContinue reading “Root And Branch: Gwreiddyn A Changen”
The Swansea Open
The Swansea Open, December 8th to February 2nd 2019, Glynn Vivian art gallery. I just heard today that I have had 2 artworks accepted into the Swansea Open exhibition and I’m chuffed to bits as Swansea is full of talented artists and the competition is stiff. I submitted two monotypes of the Mari Lwyd, based on drawings IContinue reading “The Swansea Open”
A Head In The Audience
Husb and I went to our local art gallery, the Glynn Vivian, last week to listen to the artist Simon Periton, currently exhibiting at Galerie Simpson, speak about his art practice. Of course, I had to have a scribble……
