Squished Scribble.

Here’s another drawing I did last weekend at a poetry fundraiser for Harry’s Fund at Elysium. This woman was sitting in a squished way so was very interesting to draw. It took a while to get it right. I used the continuous line method but kept stopping to look because her angles didn’t seem quiteContinue reading “Squished Scribble.”

Revisiting Pandemic Art.

I started cutting many little lino blocks way back in the pandemic lockdown. I was recording phrases that summed up what we were going through, but after a while it became so depressing that I had to give up. It’s taken a long time to feel able to go back to them, some of themContinue reading “Revisiting Pandemic Art.”

Poetry, Fundraising and Swansea Market.

I went to a poetry reading at Elysium the other day. It’s not like me, I’m not usually a fan of poetry. But these were by local poet David Hughes and I really like his work. It isn’t pretentious and bourgeois, it’s down to earth, relatable and often fun. The poems were performed by aContinue reading “Poetry, Fundraising and Swansea Market.”

#Caturday – Two Little Kitties

It’s #Caturday Saturday again and here’s a picture from nine years ago, before Sparta Puss became an only cat. The little fluff ball on the right is the late, great Little Ming, a one-eyed Naughty Tortie rescue cat with heaps of Tortitude. Ming died about 4 years ago, at a ripe old age. I’ve putContinue reading “#Caturday – Two Little Kitties”

Solidarity!

I am a lifelong union member, for over four decades, and I went to a demonstration in Castle Square in Swansea in support of those on strike today. Of course, I had to have a scribble. Here’s some of the members from the Public and Commercial Services Union, grouped around their flags. I drew intoContinue reading “Solidarity!”

Fabric Printing With A Dead Horse.

I spent the afternoon down at Swansea Print Workshop today, doing some fabric printing. It’s rare for me – I’m a paper fiend – but this is for something very specific. I’m printing onto some items of clothing with one of my little Mari Lwyd linocuts.

#Caturday – A Happy Accident.

It’s Saturday #Caturday again! Sparta Puss jumped onto the table opposite me the other day and sat in front of a vase of tulips I treated myself to. They’re in that falling-over stage and when she sat down, she was framed beautifully by their purple flowers in front of olive green curtains. A happy accident.Continue reading “#Caturday – A Happy Accident.”

Exhibition Time!

The drawings I did at the Swansea Fringe at the back end of 2022 are now being exhibited in one of Swansea’s live music venues, The Bunkhouse. It opened tonight, work by 5 artists in the downstairs bar. The top two rows in the photo are my sketches, the two bottom rows are drawings byContinue reading “Exhibition Time!”

It’s Cold!

It’s cold, freezing tonight, but this one is snug and warm indoors. Please look out for your pets in this awful weather and keep them in xxx Here’s Sparta Puss, through a Posterise filter in Adobe Photoshop.

Pictures For An Exhibition.

I did a whole load of drawings at Crowleys Rock Bar in the Swansea Fringe back before Christmas and they’re going to be in an exhibition at another rock music venue, The Bunkhouse, in Swansea! Cool! The drawings are in my sketchbook which I don’t want to dismember, so I scanned and printed a selectionContinue reading “Pictures For An Exhibition.”
