Queueing today at the chemist (pharmacy). It took a while so had a quick scribble while I waited. It’s lucky that we’re having such good weather, queueing is pleasant enough, but it’s going to be horrible when the weather turns.

Another queue another sketch….
Another quick little sketch in a queue…..
Scribbling, Shouting And Low Flying Seagulls
Queueing outside shops gives me time and opportunity to have a quick scribble in my little sketchbook that goes everywhere with me. I think it’s important to sketch, it doesn’t have to be a fabulous work of art, just a quick scribble to keep practicing. I saw this lady walking along the other side ofContinue reading “Scribbling, Shouting And Low Flying Seagulls”
That’s How I Roll
So I went to the Glynn Vivian art gallery this evening for a talk by the artist Bedwyr Williams. I sat at the back because there was a light on there in the otherwise dark room and I though “Ah, I can use that light to draw into my small but perfectly formed sketchbook.” JustContinue reading “That’s How I Roll”
Hats Indoors
This is getting to be a recurring theme, with the cold and very wet winter and I suspect, commercial premises turning the heating down a degree or two. Here are two of the people listening to artist talks at the Elysium Gallery and Bar this evening, given by Mark Folds and Bourdon Brindille. They wereContinue reading “Hats Indoors”
A Cuppa And A Read
Here’s another couple of quick sketches I did in Waterstone’s bookshop cafe in Swansea. It’s very quiet there because most people have bought books and then pop up to the cafe for a cuppa and a read. It’s lovely. I drew with a ballpoint pen into my tiny Laura Ashley sketchbook. I’ve put itContinue reading “A Cuppa And A Read”
Hats Indoors
Stopped for a cup of tea in the lovely cafe in Waterstones bookshop in Swansea and had a quick scribble. Two young women wearing woolly hats indoors. They won’t feel the benefit when they go out into the cold, as my Nana used to say.
Scribbling In The Book Shop
I spent today doing lots of little bits of stuff, catching up with things I’ve been needing to do. One thing I’ve neglected for a while is sketchbook scribbling so I called into Waterstones cafe on my way home for a nice cup of tea and a relaxed scribble. It’s one of my favouriteContinue reading “Scribbling In The Book Shop”
International Womens’ Day 2020
International Womens’ Day 2020 is coming up fast and my fellow artist Patti McJones and I have been asked to organise this year’s event at Cinema & Co. It’ll be our fourth year in this great venue. If you’re in Swansea on March 12th around 5.30 – 7.30, you’re very welcome to join usContinue reading “International Womens’ Day 2020”
Scribbling At Speed
Sometimes there’s a lot of pressure to always turn out a ‘proper’ drawing but I don’t think that’s what sketchbooks are for. Artists need to practice, just as musicians do and my sketchbook is, for me, a great way to practice. Speed drawing helps to hone skills, forcing you to focus on what’s absolutley vitalContinue reading “Scribbling At Speed”
