Like Chalk And Cheese.

Here are the last couple of sketches from the gig Husb and I were at last weekend, in Hippos. People have different ways of listening to music, these two were like chalk and cheese. The gigger on the left was very focused and concentrated on the music, the gigger on the right was going aContinue reading “Like Chalk And Cheese.”

A Head Again and Again.

I drew this page of heads at the Omnichron gig at Hippos the other night. The bass player kept moving so I quickly scribbled him from different angles, without getting enough time to do a detailed drawing.

Grooving…

Another of my gig scribbles from Hippos last weekend, of a lively young dancer grooving to my favourite psychedelic rock band, Omnichron. I took a slice of skirt and put it into Gradient Map on Adobe Photoshop.

Two Heads At The Gig.

I did lots of scribbling at the gig in Hippos on Saturday night, people in audiences are usually absorbed in the performer – unless they’re dancing – and it makes drawing them easier. Here are two very interesting heads grooving to my old mate Peter Crow. I cropped a section of the drawing in AdobeContinue reading “Two Heads At The Gig.”

Listening To Crow …

Husb and I went to a great gig at Hippos the other evening, some fantastic musicians and a quirky, fun venue. Gigs are always good for a scribble, people often listen very intently so they’re nice and still. This one was completely focused on my old mate Peter Crow who delivered a storming set. IContinue reading “Listening To Crow …”

#Caturday Archives 7

It’s Saturday/Caturday once again and here’s my earliest drawing of Sparta Puss, when she was a little kitten (she’s 13 now). A friend noticed the sinister arrangement of fur on her forehead, it looks a bit like a skull head. She nicknamed her “The Third Kitten of the Apocalypse”. Luckily the strange markings changed asContinue reading “#Caturday Archives 7”

#Caturday Archives 6

It’s Saturday / Caturday again and here’s an archive kitty drawing. This naughty cat is a very young Sparta Puss and Husb caught her expression perfectly. He used a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with a free drawing app called “Markers”.

Just Some Tweaking

I’ve done a little bit more work on this painted portrait I started a while back. It’s based on sketchbook drawings of my young relative. It’s been quite a learning experience as I’ve only started painting seriously since the Covid19 lockdown started – I’m a printmaker and scribbler. But I’m pleased with the way it’sContinue reading “Just Some Tweaking”

#Caturday Archives 5

Aaaaand it’s #Caturday again, so I’ve been raiding my kitty archives. Here’s Sparta Puss mooching around while I scribbled her. Each little sketch took a few seconds, I doubt if I spent as much as a minute on any of them. Sketching at speed is good for focusing on the important details, capturing the essenceContinue reading “#Caturday Archives 5”

Tentacles On my Head

For the first time in many years, I went into the sea a couple of weekends ago. I’ve never learnt to swim, despite living right by the sea for most of my life. The film Jaws didn’t help. I saw it when I was in my teens and convinced myself that great white sharks couldContinue reading “Tentacles On my Head”
