Cake, More Cake And A Head

Such a busy day. Putting up the new exhibition at Swansea Print Workshop this morning. It’s a gorgeous show of miniature prints from all over the world called Leftovers V. Then Husb and I went down for a much needed session on the allotment, loads of work to do but some harvesting too – potatoes,Continue reading “Cake, More Cake And A Head”

Colour Reflected

I did a series of life drawings a while back, doing linework with Faber Castell Pitt drawing pens and using my box of Winsor & Newton half pan artist watercolours to overlay colour washes in a choppy style. I posted one a couple of blogs ago and some people asked to see more. So here youContinue reading “Colour Reflected”

A Sculptural Head

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop, working with one of our elder models who has a fantastic, expressive face, full of character and experience. I prepared my sketchbook with some ripped brown parcel paper, stuck in with a Pritt stick and drew firstly in a mid grey graphite stick to getContinue reading “A Sculptural Head”

A Night At Life Drawing

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop, the regular Thursday night group and I am shattered, so just a quick blog from me. I focussed on the model’s face, drawing with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, using a free Markers app. I saved the drawing regularly and put it into the slideshow belowContinue reading “A Night At Life Drawing”

The Final Cut

I spent this afternoon down at Swansea Print Workshop, printing the first colour of a series of reduction linocuts I’m making for a forthcoming exhibition at Oriel Ceri Richards at the Taliesin Arts Centre next month. There will be 12 linocuts in all and although I’ve started printing them, I had one left to cutContinue reading “The Final Cut”

A Head. Just A Head.

Just back from life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop. I concentrated on portraiture this week. I used my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 with a free Markers app to draw our model. I like working with older models as the faces have more texture and contours which, to be honest, is easier.

Return To Life

I’ve been so busy with the series of silkscreen prints over the past few weeks that I haven’t been to life drawing at Swansea Print Workshop for ages. So back to normal this evening and I did this head study using my Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8 with the free Markers app. I saved theContinue reading “Return To Life”

Käthe And The Clothes Horse

I printed up and the two silkscreens I have been working on for the last week or so. I’m doing some editions from drawings I made of some of my favourite artists starting with Suzanne Valadon and Käthe Kollwitz. They’re small enough to print at home, if they were large I’d have booked the vacuumContinue reading “Käthe And The Clothes Horse”

Valadon Screen – Next Step

I left the Speedball Diazo drawing fluid to dry overnight after I had done my drawing of the artist Suzanne Valadon onto my screen. The next step is to mask it with the Speedball Filler. I drizzled a line of it, after a vigorous shake, at the top edge of the drawing (the screens wereContinue reading “Valadon Screen – Next Step”
